Name: Solomon Cassel Age: 57 Sex: Male Species: Human Profession: Location: Cassel Hall Affiliations: The Old Families Disposition: Brisk, powerful,
Character Background and Description Solomon Cassel comes from a very old family line on the island. He is now the head of the family after his father was moved off the island to a facility for Alzheimer's treatment. With the powerful fire magic that runs in their blood and their father's quickly deteriorating mental state, Solomon and his siblings thought it would be best to take him away from the island for his own safety. Their mother entered the facility with him to watch over him. Solomon lives in Cassel Hall with his wife Orla and their three children. His brother Cain and his son also live at the home after Cain was diagnosed with lung cancer. His other brother and sister both preferred to move away from the manor into smaller homes to start their own families. As the eldest, Solomon inherited the house, and his siblings respect the tradition.
Solomon fears getting older, and he is reminded of it whenever he looks in the mirror. His hair is streaked with white and there are white patches in his groomed beard. Crows feet are pronounced around his eyes and he has more lines in his forehead than he'd prefer. His wife says it makes him look distinguished, but Solomon finds himself longing for the days of his youth when he could more clearly feel the fire burning within him. He dresses in slacks and expensive button-down shirts with oxford style loafers.
The fire magic that runs in the Cassel family manifests itself in similar fashions among the descendants. A warmth clings to Solomon no matter the weather and can be felt by others standing near him. He can control small fires, like lighting and extinguishing candles, but the physical control is waning through the line. His children so far can only extinguish candles. His personality is also affected by the fire magic, making him intense and charismatic with a strong presence that draws others to his leadership.
Solomon, suspicious of the sudden onset of Alzheimer's in his father, believes the old man did something to anger the fae. He no longer has the same connections and influences he once did, and has not heard from the fae who once interacted closely with the family in quite some while. He has not been sleeping well lately, and has been plagued with dreams of his flesh burning, and then dark overbearing heat.
